Worker rooms in Innsbruck – Affordable living in the “bottleneck” of the Alps

Innsbruck is beautiful, but a challenge for logistics. As the provincial capital, a tourism hotspot, and a transit hub (Brenner corridor), space is tight here and rents are high. Anyone who has to accommodate teams in Innsbruck often struggles with two problems: extremely high hotel prices during peak seasons and the tense traffic situation in the Inn Valley.

On zimmmer.at you’ll find accommodations that are specifically designed for construction crews and fitters – functional, affordable, and logically located.

The "West-East strategy": Avoid crossing the city

Innsbruck stretches elongated along the Inn River. The most important rule for your planning: Avoid sending your team across the entire city in the morning. Rush-hour traffic on the Südring and the Inn bridges costs valuable working time.

1. The East & the Rossau industrial area (Rum, Hall, Neu-Rum) This is where the economic heart lies. If you have construction sites in Rossau, in the Mühlau business park, or towards the Unterland, accommodations in Rum or Hall in Tirol are worth their weight in gold.

  • Your advantage: You’re on the site immediately, often without even needing to get onto the congested A12. In addition, prices in Hall or Rum are often more moderate than directly in Innsbruck city.

2. The West (Völs, Zirl, Kranebitten) For projects in the Oberland or in the west of the city (airport, Hötting), you should orient yourself towards Völs or Zirl.

  • Logistics tip: From here, the connection to the Arlberg and the Upper Inn Valley is also ideal, without having to fight your way through the Innsbruck bottleneck.

3. The Brenner corridor (A13) Is your team working on the Brenner motorway or in the southern mid-mountain area (Igls, Patsch)? Then specifically look for accommodations south of the city. The route from the valley floor up to the hillside locations can be time-consuming in winter – better to live "up top" right away or near the A13 access ramp.

The price problem: Tourism vs. assembly work

In Tyrol, you often compete with tourists for the same beds. During peak season (winter & summer), hotel prices explode.

  • The solution: On zimmmer.at you’ll find landlords who deliberately specialize in long-term guests and companies. Here you have price certainty, even when it’s holiday season.

  • Self-catering saves expenses: Since restaurants in Innsbruck are expensive, our apartments with kitchenettes are the most effective way to keep daily costs (per diems) low.

Parking on the valley floor

In Innsbruck city, parking space is a luxury. Almost the entire city area is a paid short-term parking zone ("Parkstraße"), and the parking wardens are strict.

  • Van tip: If you book right in the center, a private parking space is almost unaffordable. We therefore strongly recommend accommodations in the outer districts (Amras, Pradl) or the surrounding municipalities ("Speckgürtel"). In our listings, look for the parking symbol – that guarantees your crew a stress-free evening without having to hunt for a parking space.

Local tax and registration requirements in Tyrol

Tyrol has one of the strictest tourism laws.

  • Local tax: This levy is comparatively high in Tyrol and is charged per person per night.

  • Exemption: For long, purely work-related stays, there are options for exemption from the local tax in many Tyrolean municipalities. However, this must be clarified and documented in advance. Ask your landlord on zimmmer.at directly about it – many know the forms for a "work-related stay".

Do you rent out in Innsbruck or in the Inn Valley?

Innsbruck is a year-round market, but the dependence on tourism can be exhausting. Fitters offer you a stable alternative.

Your advantages as a host on zimmmer.at:

  • Fill the "off-season gaps": While tourists only come during holiday periods, construction and production in and around Innsbruck take place all year round.

  • Less turnover: Fitters often stay for weeks or months for large projects (e.g., tunnel construction, residential development). That means for you: fewer check-ins, fewer final cleanings, less effort.

  • Simple requirements: Your guests are there to work. A good parking space, stable Wi‑Fi, and clean beds are often more important than wellness areas or room service.
